“My Comment Was Taken Out of Context” – NAPO Defends His Controversial Statement

0

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, widely known as NAPO, has clarified that his recent comments comparing President Nana Akufo-Addo to Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, were taken out of context.

NAPO, who was speaking during his inauguration as the running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ticket for the 2024 presidential elections in Kumasi, praised Akufo-Addo’s contributions to the nation.

During his speech, NAPO stated, “Since Ghana gained independence in 1957, no president has developed the country as significantly as our current president, Nana Akufo-Addo, not even your Kwame Nkrumah.” This statement sparked widespread controversy, with many accusing him of arrogance and disrespect towards Dr. Nkrumah’s legacy.

Addressing the backlash, NAPO said that his comments were misunderstood and taken out of context. He emphasized that his intention was to highlight the developmental progress made under President Akufo-Addo’s administration, not to undermine Dr. Nkrumah’s historical contributions.

How to Prevent Your WhatsApp Account from Being Hacked

0

With the rise in cybercrimes such as spreading false news and committing mobile money fraud, it’s crucial to secure your WhatsApp account. Here’s how you can protect yourself:

1. Never Share Your OTP or Two-Step Verification PIN

WhatsApp sends a unique one-time password (OTP) to your phone whenever your account is being logged into on a new device. This OTP is essential for accessing your account. Under no circumstances should you share this code with anyone. Additionally, never share your two-step verification PIN with others.

2. Enable Two-Step Verification

Two-step verification adds an extra layer of security. To enable it, go to your WhatsApp security settings. This feature requires you to enter an additional password after logging in, making it harder for unauthorized users to access your account. Occasionally, WhatsApp will prompt you to enter this password to ensure you’re the legitimate user. Don’t forget to attach an email address to your account; this will help you reset or retrieve your password if you forget it.

3. Set a Device Code

Ensure your phone has a strong device code (such as a PIN, pattern, or biometric lock). This prevents unauthorized access to your WhatsApp account, even if someone has physical access to your phone.

4. Monitor Linked Devices

Regularly check for devices linked to your WhatsApp account. Go to WhatsApp Settings > Linked Devices to review all linked devices. If you see any unfamiliar devices, tap on the device and select “Log Out” to remove it.

By following these steps, you can significantly reduce the risk of your WhatsApp account being hacked and used for malicious activities. Stay vigilant and keep your account secure!
